The United States were born after a rebellionagainst the King of England yet today they surrender head over heels to the charm of the British royal family, especially when it comes to its most popular members. The official visit of Prince William and Princess Catherine in New York and Washington this week was a great success and the couple came acroos as delightfyully down to earth and approachable, with both the Prince and the Duchess of Cambridge sharing an engaginly warm personality.
They characteristically avoided traveling by private jet but instead opted for a commercial flight wile on their visit at the 9/11 memorial of the September Eleventh, last Tuesday,to the National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum where the couple left with flowers on the memorial pools lined with the names of the nearly 3,000 victims, they walked in the rain helding their own black umbrella.
The previous night William and Kate watched a basketball game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Fans stood and cheered as the couple walked along the sideline to their seats.
During a break the royal couple met music royalty when Jay-Z and Beyonce were presented to them.
After the game they met with LeBron James. Kate just smiled when the Cavaliers star breached royal etiquette by wrapping his arm around the duchess.
On Monday Kate met with families and heard about the work of the Northside Center for Child Development, which offers mental health and educational services. Some of the children there expected a Disney Princess, still Kate who is expecting her second child, charmed the little ones wrapping Christmas gifts and helping them decorate picture frames.
At the same time Prince William was meeting President Obama in the White House during a World Bank Conference.
That night they attended an early evening reception highlighting wildlife conservation efforts with former U.S. first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea Clinton.
On Tuesday the royal couple watched dance and storytelling performances and met with young students at The Door, a youth development organization.
On Tuesday night Prince William and Lady Catherine- in a Jenny Pecham gown attended the St. Andrews 600th Anniversary Dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art ending their visit to the U.S with a glamorous high note.
