The ladies on The View continued their chat about South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem on this morning’s episode of the long-running daytime talk show, where they slammed the “cruel” and “stupid” politician for killing her 14-month-old puppy.

Noem was a strong contender to be Donald Trump‘s running mate, though she may have ruined her chances by admitting in her upcoming book No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward that she killed her dog for being “untrainable.”

“I hated that dog,” Noem writes in her book, per excerpts obtained by The Guardian. Aside from being “untrainable,” the pup was “dangerous to anyone she came in contact with” and “less than worthless … as a hunting dog,” according to Noem.

She later doubled down on her decision following backlash from both sides of the aisle.

“The fact is, South Dakota law states that dogs who attack and kill livestock can be put down. Given that Cricket had shown aggressive behavior toward people by biting them, I decided what I did,” Noem wrote on X. “Whether running the ranch or in politics, I have never passed on my responsibilities to anyone else to handle. Even if it’s hard and painful. I followed the law and was being a responsible parent, dog owner, and neighbor.”

The co-hosts first discussed Noem’s shocking confession during the April 29 episode of The View — but with Republicans and Democrats in rare agreement about the atrocity, they decided to bring the subject up again during today’s Hot Topics segment.

“She’s not just cruel. She’s also stupid,” Joy Behar said. “By the way, her boyfriend Trump — she wanted to be his Veep, I think that’s what this is about — wanted to have his Vice President hung … So they’re sort of made for each other. It’s the party of cruelty.”

Sunny Hostin noted that 97% of Americans consider their fur babies members of the family, to which Whoopi Goldberg fumed, “Even if they weren’t, how dare you shoot a puppy!”

Alyssa Farah Griffin — who, like Noem, is a Republican — declared that her political career was “dead,” while Hostin urged people unable to care for their dogs to re-home them or bring them to an animal rescue.

“Just keep in mind, if it was that easy for her to do to a dog, what will she do to a person?” Goldberg concluded, to which Behar called out, “That’s right!”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
