There is nothing quite like live music. But, sometimes, these events don’t always go as planned. This was the case for the famous rapper Travis Scott in November 2021 when a fatal crowd rush wound up taking the lives of 10 innocent people. Ariana Grande is another well-known and successful artist who experienced multiple near-death moments at her shows.

How Ariana Grande ‘almost died’ during a concert

Grande’s fans probably remember when the talented star went on The Honeymoon Tour. Promoting her successful sophomore album, My Everything, Grande’s first world tour kicked off in the winter of 2015.

Grande performed some of her biggest hits, like “Love Me Harder, during one show. But during it, she came close to death. In a YouTube video capturing behind-the-scenes moments on tour, Grande frantically recounts the event’s details. While speaking with her team backstage, the artist explained how everything went wrong.

“I almost died!” the Grammy-winner proclaimed. Grande explained the lift designed to raise her onto the stage snapped and malfunctioned while she was in it. To avoid physically getting “crunched,” the artist, quite literally, thought on her feet, bringing her legs up and climbing up the structure. After maneuvering out of a belt caught on the contraption, in what seemed like a miracle, Grande climbed onto the stage and continued with her performance.

The singer never missed a beat. Surprisingly enough, Grande never dropped the microphone or stopped singing during her near-death encounter. Talk about a true professional, or, as one of her team members put it, “badass.”

Grande faced another scary on-stage moment

On May 22, 2017, Grande once again faced a near-death experience while performing. The world probably sadly remembers the horrible tragedy that occurred when a bomb went off as her set during a U.K. performance ended.

The moment changed her life, Grande later revealed. She posted on her since-deleted Twitter account, “broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don’t have words.”

But following the tragedy, Grande returned to Manchester. She performed during One Love Manchester, a benefit concert she organized in response to the unprecedented devastation.

Back in 2019, Grande was faced with additional scrutiny in the spotlight when she shared scans of her brain with her social media followers and fans. In the post, the artist shared a photo of what a “Healthy Brain” looked like contrasted with a scan of her brain. Grande’s shocking Instagram story revealed that the star appears to deal with PTSD and anxiety

She broached this subject during a 2019 Vogue cover story, where she called herself “a person who’s been through a lot.” “I have to be the luckiest girl in the world, and the unluckiest, for sure,” Grande continued. Hopefully, her days of near-death experiences are over.
