As a former cast member on shows like The Hills and Celebrity Big Brother, Stephanie Pratt is no stranger to drama. And she’s discovered the best way to deal when people around her turn toxic.

When things get ugly, Pratt embraces self-care, she told US Weekly at the KIIS-FM Wango Tango Concert on June 1. She may have needed a lot of that self-care recently since she’s been filming The Hills: New Beginnings with her brother Spencer Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag. Pratt has previously called the pair, “the most toxic people I’ve ever met.”

Pratt hired a life coach

Pratt said that she relies on self-care when she needs to cut toxic people out of her life. A life coach — who she hired on the advice of her Pratt Cast podcast cohost Wells Adams — helped her reassess her life and priorities.

“I was, like, ‘Wait, if toxic people are mixing with my work, and they’re not even in the arena and they’re giving me advice and telling me stuff, it’s like, you don’t even know what I do.’ So you just have put yourself completely first and just think of it as self-care, and it’s really easy. You take all the photos down, and you don’t talk about them. It’s super easy.”

She’s also said that relocating to London has helped change her perspective. “”I’ve been living in London and everyone is no bulls**t. It’s not like LA,” she told ET during a recent interview. “In London, when you have a problem, you go up to that person and you don’t just like allow bulls**t and lies and you call people out. So I do that a lot.”

Why she’s cut her brother out of her life

Pratt’s reference to toxic people is a pretty obvious dig at her brother Spencer and his wife Heidi, her co-stars on both The Hills and its forthcoming reboot.

During a Pratt Cast episode in April, the reality TV star said that she’d stopped speaking to older sibling Spencer. The 35-year-old has put his wife before his parents and the rest of his family, and has been cut out of his parents will “because of horrific he is as a human” she said.

Pratt seems to hold Montag at least partially to blame for the relationship breakdown and has suggested her sister-in-law is trying to get her hands on the Pratt family’s money.

“Heidi is always number one to Spencer, so you know what? Spencer is dead to me. That’s the only way I can handle it is knowing that he died,” the 33-year-old said on her podcast.

Pratt also described her brother and his wife as “Bonnie and Clyde till they die. So if they say, ‘The sky is black,’ all of us are morons for saying, ’It’s blue.’ … I’m going to expose them for who they are.”

The drama will factor into The Hills: New Beginnings

Viewers can expect the Stephanie-Spencer-Heidi drama to be a storyline on The Hills: New Beginnings when it premieres later in June. But Pratt declined to elaborate on the origins of the family feud during her interview with ET, saying simply, “You’ll see on the show.”

Of course, the Pratt family fracas won’t be the only drama on the rebooted Hills. The new series will also revisit Audrina Patridge’s tumultuous relationship with Justin “Bobby” Brescia. Whitney Port and Brody Jenner are also back, and actress Mischa Barton is joining the cast.

“If [people] thought the original Hills was, like, drama and the best show ever, this is just – it’s 2020 Hills, 2019/2020,” Pratt told US Weekly. “It is just on fire.”

The Hills: New Beginnings premieres Monday, June 24 at 10/9c on MTV.
