We’re only a little over a month away from the premiere of Stranger Things 4. However, the cast and crew recently began giving interviews about what fans can expect in the upcoming season. Stars of the series Finn Wolfhard and Sadie Sink previously mentioned the new season would be scarier. Now, Millie Bobby Brown is promising answers about her character, Eleven.

Eleven’s had a tough time in all three seasons of the show so far

Brown’s character, Eleven, spent the first several years of her life in a government lab. Because of her telekinetic powers, Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) experimented on her as a young child. However, when Will (Noah Schnapp) goes missing in Stranger Things Season 1, the rest of the gang can only locate him with Eleven’s help after she escapes.

When Eleven banished the monster terrorizing Hawkins, Indiana, the Demogorgon, in the finale of season 1, she also ended up trapped in the Upside Down. However, she manages to make her way back to Hawkins in season 2, and the local police chief, Jim Hopper (David Harbour), helps hide her from officials. In Stranger Things Season 2, it’s once again up to Eleven to help save her friends from another creature known as the Mind Flayer.

Stranger Things Season 3 adds more danger for Eleven, mixed with a little bit of romance between herself and Mike Wheeler (Wolfhard.) Ultimately, she, once again, has to save the day. For those hoping Eleven might get a bit of a break in Stranger Things 4, don’t hold your breath.

Millie Bobby Brown says ‘Stranger Things 4’ dives into Eleven’s childhood

Stranger Things 4 features a fractured group of friends. Eleven, Will, Joyce (Winona Ryder), and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) move to California to try to escape the horrors they experienced. However, the rest of the gang remains in the small Indiana town. The Duffer Brothers, creators of the show, said that the folks in Hawkins are finally waking up to the unfortunate events in the town as more terrible things happen. Brown has similar views on the darkness of Stranger Things 4.

“You get to see Eleven in the darkest state she’s ever been. This has definitely been the hardest season I’ve ever filmed. And there have been some of the scariest, scariest things that I’ve ever seen as a human, which you guys will get to see, for sure.”

The young actor also mentions how Stranger Things 4 uncovers more about Eleven’s childhood. “That story line of her as a young child wasn’t covered. There were still so many questions, from me and from the viewers,” Brown told Entertainment Weekly, promising fans they “get to see that this season.”

‘Stranger Things 4’ Features a Rift in ‘Our Favorite Bromance’ Says the Duffers

Creator Ross Duffer likens ‘Stranger Things 4’ to a horror film

Previous interviews with the cast and crew mentioned how Stranger Things 4 leans hard into the horror genre. The Duffers also discussed the horror movie monsters they used as inspiration for the different seasons.

Ross Duffer told Entertainment Weekly that Stranger Things 4 is a “full-fledged Nightmare on Elm Street-esque horror film” and is “easily” the “scariest and the darkest” of them all. Thankfully, fans only have to wait a few more weeks before they watch all the scares unfold for themselves.

Stranger Things 4 premieres exclusively on Netflix on May 27, 2022.
