Fans are eagerly waiting for the return of the We TV reality series Braxton Family Values. But one person who wouldn’t mind if the show did not return is Tamar Braxton. The Love & War singer has expressed her frustration with the network and the production company over the show for allegedly implanting drama. She is now alleging that her family is underpaid, making way less than the Kardashian family.

Tamar Braxton says The Kardashians earn 75% more than her family for their reality show

Braxton Family Values has been a hit since its 2011 premiere on We TV. The show has been credited for putting the network on the map and is the longest-running reality series featuring an African American cast. But according to Braxton, their paychecks don’t match their worth.

In a series of tweets, Braxton blasted We TV, claiming they lowball her family financially – while citing the Kardashian family on E! as a reference.

“Are we going to talk about pay… I 100 percent wrote the theme song…where is the coin…our show is on Netflix… where is the coin…10 years on The air…we make 75 percent LESS than the Kardashians. How come there are no villains on that show,” the youngest Braxton sibling asked.

She continued airing her frustrations, accusing the network of improperly editing the show and drumming up the drama for ratings. Fans’ comments poured in, noting that the narrative of the series has drastically changed from its lighthearted beginning – to currently showing the family at constant war with one another. Braxton blames the network for its portrayal of her family.

“It used to be funny and fun. But some will say well you actually said or did the negative things. True but now true. It’s the context. And that’s why they do it. To ruin your credibility,” she wrote.

Tamar Braxton previously complained about production and We TV over ‘Braxton Family Values’

This isn’t the first time Tamr has slammed her television home. In 2017, she famously boycotted the series, appearing in minimal episodes throughout season 6. By the second half of the season, the only sister who filmed was Traci after the rest of the family opted to strike, citing pay inequity and issues with production. Friends of Traci’s were hired as fill-ins until the sisters returned.

Tamar has also accused the network of blocking other television opportunities. In 2016, she announced that she signed a deal with Steve Harvey for a talk show. There was no progress on the show, with Tamar citing contractual obligations with We TV.

Her second spinoff, Get Your Life, has also not been a walk in the park. Set to air this fall, Tamar has been open about her hesitation for the show to air, explaining that she fears the show will be edited to paint her in a negative light.

In a June 2020 interview with Nick Cannon, Tamar admitted she no longer enjoys filming the show, explaining that her family has been torn apart at times as a result of the series.

I don’t feel like you get anything positive from it – a lot of arguing and fighting and shenanigans and it’s not what my parents raised and designed for our family. And I think what it’s turned into, what you see on television is definitely not something I want to stand by…if you’re not gonna tell the real story…the ups and downs but also the resolve…if you can show the chaos, the resolve, and the success then you have a true American Black family story.

The new season of Braxton Family Values is set to air this fall. The family did take a year break from filming to focus on rebuilding their relationships with one another after the explosive season finale and the unexpected death of a family member.
